| (InWillOf) Will | 10 April 1604 | Jennett Hornsey was mentioned in the will of Alexander Emerson on 10 April 1604 at Searby Parish, Lincolnshire, England, as wife, but not by name; "Alexander Emerson of Sereby in the county of Lincoln, yeoman". He desired to be buried in the church of Serebye. Gave his wife all his lands and tenements in Serebye during her life if she didn't marry after he died. Then he willed them to son Michael and his male heirs, with remainder to son Robert and his heirs, then to son Thomas, then to son John, and lastly to right heirs of son Michael. The lands and tenements in Howsham and Cadney, went to son Thomas, with remainder to John, then Robert, then Michael and lastly to the right heirs of son Thomas. To wife all houses, lands and tenements in Glamford Brigges for life, then to son Robert. To Margery and Margaret daughters of deceased son George, twenty shillings apiece. All his goods to be divided equally betwene these five, viz., "my wife and John, Michaell, Robert and Thomas Emerson, my sons. Son Michaell full and sole executor." Source author points out that "the names in this will are so closely like those in the will of Thomas of Howsham, and the phrases employed with reference to the lands and tenements in Howsham which Alexander bequeathed to Thomas, and the income from which Thomas bequeathed to his daughter Isabell; the same word "yeoman" used to escribe the men; and the fact that the Howsham man named his eldest son Alexander - all combine to form strong evidence that Alexander of Sereby was the father of Thomas of Howsham and grandfather of the Haverhill pioneers."3,4 |
| Will* | 24 May 1612 | Jennett Hornsey left a will 24 May 1612 Searby Parish, Lincolnshire, England, "Jennet Emerson of Serebie in the countie of Lincoln". Bequeathed to her sons John, Robert, Thomas, and Michael Emerson, making the last named executor; gave also to her daughter Anne and her (Anne's) daughter Agnes Fflotherbie. Robert and Thomas Emerson were among the witnesses to the will.5,6 |
