To-Do*1857Benjamin applied for a bounty land pension (#267992)
Something interesting comes to light when looking at a copy of the bounty land application. Some of the paperwork is dated as late as 1870 with no indication that he is deceased. It looks as though someone is still fighting to get the land he applied for. Follow through in the land records to see what happened. One of the cards implies there was 160 acres granted 3 Dec 1870. There is a number 110926 - 160 on the same card.
SLC #s for when doing land records: Grantee index A-K 1860-1874 is film 812735 (go from there to get rest) - uses Graves indexes so Bullis is on page 62.
1869-1872 land books are on films: 590155 (vol 294-295), 590156 (vol 296-297) etc with two volumes per roll
"Place this on hold til we see what is in the will" - update, the will doesn't exist, so have to do it with the land records in 1857 at SLC #812736, 813642 & 644, 590155 (vol 294-295), 590156 (vol 296-297).
Will*9 August 1857He left a will 9 August 1857 Erie Co., New York, index shows that it is bk 6 pg 598 which is not on film at SLC, and it's not in the probate packet. In Dec 2004, we contacted the surrogate court and they looked up the book and page, and that page is blank, and they found no will for him.
