To-Do*Check out the Hannah who married James Shaw - Husband died intestate and in one deed regarding land there is an heir with no relationship stated named Hannah Barcroft, wife of James Shaw. This is not daughter Hannah, so could it be this Hannah, remarried?

In 1793, husband John Barcroft bought 253 acres in Amwell, Hunterdon, NJ. It is in the deeds made for the partition of this land that there is proof of his death, and the names of his children. The documents note that the death of John Barcroft occured "in the month of February, 1795". His wife Hannah - whose name had appeared on the earlier deeds - probably died shortly before the time of making this partition of the land, as there is no mention of her in the papers, nor does her signature appear later than in April 1792.
However, in a deed in Hunterdon Co NJ (vol 2 p.233+) son Jonas sells 12 acres that had been sold to John Barcroft in 1793, and it mentions that John had died intestate with the following heirs: children Jonas, William, John, Wood, Elizabeth wife of Reuben Lake, Hannah wife of Thomas Lake; grandchildren John Barcroft Jr and Isaiah Barcroft, and one other heir, relationship not given, that of Hannah Barcroft wife of James Shaw. Since this is not daughter Hannah, it is possible that this is widow Hannah and that she remarried. The deed was made 10 Apr 1797. On 28 Oct 1796 all the heirs sold their shares to Jonas, that's why he is the grantor in this deed.
