Father* Christopher Osgood (1643-1722) b. c 1643, d. 1722
Mother* Hannah Belknap
Birth*
She was the daughter of Christopher Osgood (1643-1722) and Hannah Belknap
Marriage*22 August 1688Hannah Osgood (widow of John Carleton) married John Carleton on 22 August 1688.1
Marriage*Hannah Osgood (widow of John Carleton) married Abraham Annis, son of Curmac aka Charles Annis (Immigrant) and Sarah Chase, The Annis Genealogy (by Annis Family Association, Alonzo Annes compiler) says about the marriage:
The first record we have of the marriage of Abraham Annis is to the effect that he married Hannah Osgood, daughter of Christopher and Hannah (Belknap) Osgood, and that she was born in Andover, MA on 19 Oct 1668. We do not know on what date the event took place.
According to the N. E. Hist. & Gen. Reg., the children of Christopher and Hannah (Belknap) Osgood, were:
i.      Mary, b. 5 Jul 1665; m. John Marston 28 May 1689; d. 5 Apr 1700.
ii.     Hannah, b. 19 Oct 1668; m. John Carlton, 22 Aug 1688.
iii.      Dorothy, b. 4 Jul 1671; m. Joseph Annis
There were other children.
From the above record it is very evident that Hannah Osgood married twice, first John Carlton on 22 Aug 1688, and second, Abraham Annis. It is a matter of much regret that the record does not clearly state that Hannah was a widow when she became the wife of Abraham Annis, but there is no other logical conclusion. We shall leave for some future genealogist, the task of determining, if possible, whether there were children born to Hannah and John Carlton and of obtaining information bearing on the date of John Carlton's death and the date of Hannah's marriage to Abraham Annis. From the date of Hannah's marriage to John Carlton on 22 Aug 1688, to the birth of Charles Annis, the first child born to Hannah and Abraham Annis, four and one-half years intervened.
(Note: There is some still some conflict as to the name of Abraham's wife. According to Alonzo Lawson Annes and Verle Lincoln Annis, Abraham was married to the widow of John Carleton, but the unpublished and undocumented manuscript of G.O. Courser of 1938 claims that Abraham was married to Hannah Badger by 1692. She was the daughter of Sergeant John and Hannah (Serett) Badger, and was born at Newbury on December 3, 1673. To further complicate this issue, the published French Family Genealogy, states that John Carleton was married to Hannah Osgood, but she was not widowed early. In fact, both John and Hannah lived to old age together and had a large family. Michael James Annis).2,3
