| Marriage* | 1 August 1732 | Daniel Annis (RevWar Patriot) married Catherine Thomas on 1 August 1732 at Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts, per 1997 letter from Michael Annis : The names of Catherine's parents are unknown at this time, but her name had been changed from the Welsh "Keren Happuck". Daniel was an early pioneer, and soon after an epidemic of "throat distemper" took the lives of two of his children, he removed to Methuen MA (1741). He also resided in Bradford MA (1745) and before 1748 he moved to Rumford (now Concord) NH. In 1757 he removed to Hopkinton NH and finally in 1762, in company with his son Daniel, his daughter Hannah, and her husband Reuben Kimball, (Reuben Kimball was the brother of Mary "Polly" Kimball), and nephew John Annis, he became the first settler of Warner NH. His daughter Hannah was the first white woman in Warner, and she gave birth to the first baby there (1763). Per Verle Annis book: During the epidemics of 1735 to 1737 of what was called "throat distemper", Daniel and Catherine lost two infants. May children died, but only a few families lost more than one.1 |
