She was the daughter of Everardus Brouwer and Mary Pettit. 
Marriage*3 February 1754Maria Brouwer married Samuel Ellis on 3 February 1754 at New Amsterdam/NY Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, New York Co., New York.2,3 
Death*4 July 1794Maria Brouwer died on 4 July 1794 at age 61 No record has been found for her after 4 Jul 1794; whe disappears from family and legal records. What she thought of Samuel's tangled personal affairs can only be imagined. She was not mentioned first in the list of his heirs; she was left a widow's share only, she was not left his personal estate which went to their daughters, she was "my loving" but not "my beloved" wife; and Samuel did not leave instructions for her care afterhis death, such as one finds in many old wills.4
