| Negative* | Negative searches: Other than showing that there were Clays in Brookfield in the time period of her death (who may or may not have been related), nothing was found in the following book regarding Sarah or her immediate family. "Yesterdays: The Story of Brookfield NH" by Carolyn D Chase, Queen's Bay Publishing, 1999 - researcher reply to inquiry: In this book, I found Benjamin Clay and wife Sarah and two children, Jonathan & Benjamin Jr. living in Brookfield around 1796 to 1798. The book has a picture of the Benjamin Clay house and says: "Half a mile beyond Pike's Tavern on Wentworth Road stood the Clay Farm. Benjamin Clay bought Lot 71 from Joseph Cook in 1781 for 402 bushels of corn. The house that Clay built was a center-chimney Cape (p. 84)... Clay sold the house, barn, and orchard to his son, Benjamin Jr., in 1803; he later sold to Samuel and Lydia Lang in 1812" (p. 85). The index doesn't list anyone named "Quinby," but there's some info. about Nancy Quimby. She and John Wesley Weeks were married on Nov. 15, 1851 (p. 148). | |
| Negative | Negative searches: NH Genealogical Record volumes 1-16 - The index for each volume was searched (NEHGS QuickSearch report). Sarah Clay did not appear in index. There was a John Clay of Candida, but no other relevant Clays. | |
| Negative | Negative searches: NEHGS QuickSearch - their library had 3 Clay genealogies. Two have nothing to do with Sarah Clay's family. They are: The Family of Clay of New Castle, Delaware & Philadelphia PA by Cecil Clay, and The Clay Family, Louisville KY 1899 by Z.F.Zmith. The other is the Genealogy & History of the Clay Family, 1916 by Hiland Clay which we've already seen. |
