BackgroundMargaret Fleming (Immigrant 1638) and Griffith Bowen (Immigrant 1638) have the following backgound information available: "The lineage from King Henry I to Griffith Bowen, as prepared by Herman Nickerson, has been accepted by the Descendants of the Illegitimate Sons and Daughters of the Kings of Britain (Lineage No. 156), and appears in the Sep. 1979 National Genealogical Society Quarterly. Essentially the same line, except for the fifth generation listed, appears in the 7th edition of Ancestral Roots of Certain American Colonists, by Frederick Weis (1993), and is presented here. An alternate line to Twdwr Mawr, King of South Wales had been in the 1964 third edition of Ancestral Roots....

Various sources say that Griffith Bowen was "formerly of Barryhead, parish of Llangenydd, co. Glmamorgan" Llangenydd is the Welsh version of Llangennith. http://www.the-gower.com/home/interactive.htm map of the Gower Peninsula in Glamorgan(shire) Wales, shows the location of Llangennith which would be what is meant by "Langwith" and "Langenith" quoted in Ancestral Roots of Sixty Colonists by Frederick Weis. It's easy to "hear" how the corruption of Llangennith might have sounded like Langenith. "Barryhead" would be the head of the Burry River, to the west and north.
