Elisha Chamaberlain at 16 yrs of age served in a Wrenthram Co. under the command of Capt. Samuel Cowell, in the exp. of 1778 to R.I.
Son of Moses and Sarah (Partridge Chamberlain, b. Walpole, Mass. Sept. 2, 1762, m. in Newton, Mar 6, 1784, Susannah Brown, dau. of Ebenezar and Elizabeth (Jameson) Brown. He came to Fitchburg in 1786 and resided here 16 years at what was later known as the Goudhue place on the old Leominster road. He moved to Swanzey and to Keene, N.H. where he died June 11, 1840.

Susannah] and Elisha Chamberlain, May 6, 1784 [dup. ---, 1783, adds "at the House of her father in law, Mr. Josiah Hall & of Mrs Hall, his wife, formerly Mrs Brown. The Mother of Miss Susanna Brown, formerly of what is now a Town called Brighton"] [int. Mar 27, 1784] [Susanna, May 6, 1784, M.R.].
     "Father in law" in marriage record is what we now call stepfather.
