CAUTION*There is the following CAUTIONARY INFORMATION for Tilly Higgins and Thomas Hagan (RevWar Patriot): Looking at the birth years of Tilly's children, and the birth year of our ancestor Thomas, it seems very unlikely that Tilly is the father of Thomas. 
Birth* Sometimes seen as Higgins, but occasionally as Haggens. Like Forgus, he was originally a trader (of Berwick, York, ME). Adjacent counties to York County:
* Oxford County, Maine - north
* Cumberland County, Maine - northeast
* Rockingham County, New Hampshire - southwest
* Strafford County, New Hampshire - west
* Carroll County, New Hampshire - northwest.

Source*Source(s): that they are brothers - Oldest citation (1853) says "Fergus Higgins came from Ireland to Black Point about 1750. Tully Higgins, his brother, came over with him and settled in Berwick." Next oldest (1895) says "Tilly Higgins came from Ireland and sat down in Berwick; his brother Fergus settled in Scarborough." Stott (in Lineages Report) says "Our own investigation shows that while Tilly was generally called Higgins, Forgus was almost always called Haggen, Hagen, Hoggens, etc."1,2,3

Marriage*He married Mary Woodsum, daughter of Joseph Woodsum and Abigail Abbott, (source cites NEHGR 74 1777 [1920]:194).4 
Deed1743 Tilly Higgins was the GrantEE 1743 South Berwick, York Co., Maine: purchased land from William Lord of Berwick (York Deed bk 24 pg 279). Tilly is listed as a shopkeeper, as he is again in several other records of purchases in York deeds.4 
Occupation*1744He first tavern keeper in Berwick and was also an importer and trader in South Berwick in 1744 in 1744 at Berwick, York Co., Maine.4 
Will*16 July 1777He left a will 16 July 1777 York Co., Maine.5
