| Birth* | circa 1552 | Frantz Bolion Von Der Rosen was born circa 1552. |
| Background | | He has the following backgound information available: per Dick van Weelderen: Citizen of Strasbourg since 04/09-1579, well known goldsmith and owns a number of houses. He was member of the goldsmith's guild which had 99 members on its list. This list consisted of Maitres, Compagnons, these had to be 8 years an apprentice (four years) and (four years) aspirants (who became apprentice). He marries in the St. Thomas Church (luth) 11/21-1581 Otillie Flach. Six children. 16th century: Strasbourg pronounced itself for the religious Reformation. The free city took in the persecuted dissidents, vulgarized their writings. Franz already was a goldsmith on the date of his marriage, this is why he used "bolion"or "bullion" in his name. Upon his departure from Luik/ Liege/ Luettich in 1579, he was called Franz von der Rosen as he was not a full-fledged goldsmith he could not use the word "bolion". Once Frantz was accepted as a goldsmith by the guild (brotherhood), he used the attached marks. Source: Musee de l'orfeverie in Strassburg. |
| Occupation* | | He gold worker/goldsmith.1 |
| Marriage* | 21 November 1581 | He married Otilia Flach, daughter of Gabriel Flach and (__________) (__________), on 21 November 1581 at Strasbourg, Bas-Rhin, France. |
| Background* | | Frantz Bolion Von Der Rosen has the following backgound information available: The christening indexes for all of the available Strasbourg Protestant churches were searched for children born to Franz Von Der Rosen, but only those [cited in report] were identified. There was a gap in the records of St Aurelian from 1588-99, so it's possible some children were baptised there. Also, the christenings of the Krankenhaus (Hospital) parish weren't indexed, so they weren't searched at this time. Although no christening was found for them, the marriages of Christina and Ursula listed their father as Franz Von Der Rosen, gold worker, so they are definitely members of this family.1 |
| Death* | between 20 April 1613 and 28 August 1626 | He died between 20 April 1613 and 28 August 1626 He was still alive when dau Anna marr 20 Apr 1613, but dead when dau Ursula marr 1626. Burials for Neue Kirche don't begin until 1659, and those of St Thomas until 1651.1 |
