He was the son of Moses Jewett and Mary Nye Hagan. 
Education*Captain James Richard Jewett was educated and was one of the greatest scholars in Maine, a well known student of literature. He was appointed to West Point but did not complete the cours.1 
Marriage*before 1850He married Emiline Greenleaf, daughter of Ebenezer Greenleaf and Abigail Hodgdon, before 1850 at Westport, Lincoln Co., Maine.
