Birth*18 September 1861 Theodore Lewis Beck was born 18 September 1861 at New York City, New York Co., New York, Bible record says: Theodore Lewis Beck, fifth son of William and Ann E. Beck was born 18th of September 1861 in the city of N.Y. [Death not recorded].
     The Bible pages are in the handwriting of Dorothy (Beck) Babcock, the daughter of Theodore & Cora (Scott) Beck. She copied the information from the Beck family Bible, and stated that the Bible was in the possession of Alison (McCallum) May who is a granddaughter of a brother (William) of Theodore Beck. Alison said she is not aware of the Bible or its current location, and Dorothy is deceased so can not be questioned about it.
     Though it is not a photocopy of the Bible pages, it is the best that can be provided for proofs of many of the vital statistics in the pages, and the date and place agrees with the information on his death certificate, and constitute the proof of his birth.
     The birth is not on index cards for 1861 (SLC 143237) or 1862 (SLC 1378985), or actual records for Sep 1861 & Sep 1862 (SLC 1315313). Conclusion: they didn't register his birth.1 
He was the son of William Beck (Immigrant) and Anne Elizabeth Cornelius.

Beck, Louisa, age 18 b.NY, clerk - note the wrong name, but he does show as son, so this has to be Theodore. He was probably called Lewis and the census taker wrote it as Louisa.
